Food & Accommodation in Yeovil
We are trading once again. Opening hours are from 9.00am Monday to Saturday, serving food from when we open and from 11.30am on a Sunday, food starting at 12pm.
We have kept many Covid-19 rules in place. Mainly social distancing of our tables, staff wearing face-coverings and taking regular flow tests. It's up to you if you wish to continue to wear your face covering and to use the NHS Track & Trace App. The QR codes are still there for you to use. We feel it took many months to gain peoples trust in our proceedures, we feel we don't want to lose this and so menus are still disinfected after EVERY use, tables and chairs are thoroughly disinfected after EVERY use and all tables have their own sanitisor bottles for guests to use freely. We want customers to feel safe and be safe because we want you to return.
Whilst shut we have invested many tens of thousands of pounds of our own money (we received no government grants) into our business. Every wall, ceiling and door has been re-painted by local tradesman Craig Ball. Our flooring is all new. Top of the range Wilton carpet (custom made carpet) and range topping Karndean flooring. All of which was expertly fitted and supplied by Shaun Whittaker Carpets in Mudford. New display areas have been expertly crafted by Darren Woolmington Woodworking.
Back of house has not been forgotten either! Whilst this is not something you'll see, you will certainly appreciate the benefits. We've installed a brand new State of the Art cellar dispense system that helps us serve an even better pint than before. Our kitchen has also been at the receiving end of the cheque book with new safety flooring that at the same time brings an even higher level of hygiene and safety into our ever important food preparation area. A double bonus!
Not to mention the stringent, yet hopefully, unobtrusive measures we have put in place to help combat the threat of Covid-19.
All, and I mean all, of our staff have sat and passed Corona Virus Awareness Courses. As well as receiving more in-depth Covid training from both Sarah and myself. We spent hundreds of pounds on our fantastic team of staff with numerous online training courses in all matter of subjects along with fantastic new uniforms. They will be wearing face shields for their and your protection.
Extra high quality seating has also been purchased for outside, to gain the last of the sun from summer 2020.
Approximately 80% of the monies spent have been spent locally. Benefiting and supporting the local business and the local economy. A musy in these testing times.
Why have we done all of this? To not only make your visit to the Pen Mill a happy and enjoyable one, but also to make it a clean and safe environment to meet with friends, family and loved ones. Dogs are also very much still welcome. Oh, and children! :)
Our re-opening was delayed in order to research other establishments to see what works best and to see what doesn't. People don't appear to be going out as much as before and so when you do venture out, we want you to experience the very best in hospitality.
Bookings for both the hotel and restaurant can now be made via this website or call on 01935 423081. You can still book the old fashioned way by calling in to see us. Whilst bookings aren't necessary, they are certainly recomemmended.
Jon, Sarah and their fantastic team of staff are ready and eager to welcome you back
The Pen Mill Hotel is fast becoming one of Yeovil and surrounding areas most popular destinations for locals, visitors from the UK and international guests from around the globe. We are situated right on the A30, Somerset and Dorset Border. On the edge of town, yet overlooking the beautiful countryside.
Our outstanding levels of customer service, high quality, award-winning home-cooked, traditional pub food make us a firm favourite all year round. Add to this our large premium drink selection and honest family values, this helps make us the first choice when visiting or dining out in the area.
In 2019 we entered, for the first time, into the prestigious Taste of the West Awards and were promptly awarded Gold for our food offerings and Silver for our Hotel. Just a couple points off a gold! This will be rectified by the time of our second entry.
